HBT: Jeter cleared for baseball activities, running

Good news for the Yankees this evening.

Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports that Derek Jeter received clearance today to progress into baseball activities and running after he had his surgically-repaired left ankle examined by Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, North Carolina. Anderson performed the surgery back in October and later advised the veteran shortstop to shut things down after a crack was found in the ankle in April.

Jeter has already been playing catch and fielding ground balls hit directly out him, but now he can now expand things a bit. It?s important to note that the announcement from the Yankees said that the ankle is ?healing,? and therefore not fully healed, so he still has a long way to go with his rehab, but it sounds like he?s moving in the right direction.
